The digital network is this building's artery. Through it information is sent and becomes readable on the screen's face. The INFORMATION WINDOW - an installation of 40 screens mounted in front of the
large glass facade of the lobby - shows this information poetically transfigured... ![]()
Signs are recognizable on the sand-blasted glass. Ones that are familiar to
us because we see them everyday on our screens are combined with archaic characters
- Numidian, Egyptian and Chinese - symbols that are still understandable today.
There are many possibilities to read and interpret the signs shown here. But
decipher them completely you cannot. Similar to a computer screen, these picture
planes are in motion. Except for the fact that digital flickering is distorted
down to slow-motion speed.
The glass used here can be made transparent or opaque by means of electrical
current. This makes possible a game of changing views: the view onto the information signs and the view through the signs onto the
reality that lies behind each piece of data.
