The Klett Arcade is an underground area at the main railway station in Stuttgart.
It is large and has a network of many branches. Here you find a variety of
shops, access to the city trains and subways, gay haunts, wino hangouts, drug
dealers, tourists, commuters and natives of Stuttgart... ![]()
Since May 1992 a police station has also existed here. In the rich flood of
images, signs and information, in the spatial diversity of passages and kiosks,
an artistic sign has been placed that stands out from all the others.
It signposts the functions of a police station and examines the themes associated
with it:
Violence is made the subject in the form of the edge of an outside wall that
has been torn apart. The aluminum skin has burst open into raw borders. From
the cleft, neon rot plexiglass glows like an open wound.
